Rep. Nadler (D-NY) will introduce DOMA repeal bill next week

Once again, Kerry Eleveld has the scoop:

The Advocate has learned that Democratic representative Jerrold Nadler of New York will be introducing legislation to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act next Tuesday. A Democratic aide confirmed that a press conference to announce the bill will be held September 15 at 11 a.m. at the House Triangle.

The source said the bill currently has just over 50 cosponsors, but Congressman Nadler’s office has not yet officially circulated a letter to his fellow House members.

We’ve been waiting a long time for this legislation. Repealing DOMA is a top priority for many of us.

Look forward to seeing the list of sponsors, both for who is on it and who isn’t. And, of course, we’ll be waiting for the big White House strategy meeting to figure out how we’re going to pass this legislation…(I know we’ll be waiting a long time for that meeting. We get tours and cocktail parties, not substance from the Obama administration.)
