That crack team at FOX News decided to confirm a key part of the story about Kevin Jennings, only after FOX News aired the report without confirming it. And, FOX was wrong.
Check out the latest from Media Matters, which includes an email exchange between Maxim Lott, from FOX News, and the former student of Kevin Jennings from Concord Academy. According to Maxim, "most of the controversy has to do with advice [Kevin Jennings] gave you at Concord Academy." Well then, the controversy is over.
The former student told Lott that he was born in 1971, thus proving FOX's reporting inaccurate. Furthermore, he wants Lott and his employers to correct their mistake:
I was 16 when Kevin gave me the advice he gave me. I was born in July of 1971, and the conversation happened in 1988. It has been quite distressing to have heard otherwise on your broadcasts. Hopefully, my birthday should clear up any misunderstandings you and your employers have about my age and I look forward to seeing the correction made. Please forward me the link when you have done so.I have a feeling the guy will be waiting a long time for that link with the correction. Let's see how long, if ever, it takes FOX to correct itself. And, we'll wait for the other right-wing homophobes to correct their error, too. Don't hold your breath. FOX and the other right-wingers won't apologize or admit errors because, as John noted, their homophobia is driving this fake controversy. In their world, homophobia is an excuse for really bad and totally inaccurate reporting.
