HRC says $250 dinner attendees know better than you "what's at stake" in the battle for our civil rights

Really? Some guy buying a $1,000 a person ticket (some went that high) knows more about what it's like to be afraid of coming out, afraid of losing your job and losing your family, afraid of having the crap beaten out of you, than, say, some gay man or lesbian living in the sticks in Mississippi. That's interesting. And rather out of touch.

Here's what HRC President Joe Solmonese told CNN about the dinner attendees versus critics of the administration:

[P]erhaps the crowd at the dinner last night was a little bit more politically aware and had a better sense of maybe, you know, what's at stake and what needs to be done.
They know what's at stake, all right. Their lobbying contracts.

It would be nice to see the president of our largest civil rights group go on TV as a representative of the gay community rather than a representative of the Obama administration. I miss the old HRC. Back when they were gay.
