Springsteen urges support for marriage equality in New Jersey

| Reddit | Tumblr | Digg | FARK

I am, and always have been, a huge Bruce Springsteen fan. I love his music and his commitment to social justice. Yesterday, he issued a statement supporting the marriage equality bill in his home state of New Jersey:

Like many of you who live in New Jersey, I've been following the progress of the marriage-equality legislation currently being considered in Trenton. I've long believed in and have always spoken out for the rights of same sex couples and fully agree with Governor Corzine when he writes that, "The marriage-equality issue should be recognized for what it truly is -- a civil rights issue that must be approved to assure that every citizen is treated equally under the law." I couldn't agree more with that statement and urge those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now.
I like knowing The Boss is on our side.

Do what Bruce says: Make your voices heard. The New Jersey Senate will vote on the marriage bill tomorrow. Garden State Equality has all the ways to contact legislators. If you live in New Jersey, make your calls (again, because you've already called, right?) Make your friends and family call the State House, too. We need all of our allies. You know Maggie Gallagher from NOM and the Catholic Bishops are ginning up the haters.
