Stephen Colbert on Bill O’Reilly, gay marriage, and goat marriage (video)

It wasn’t long ago that Bill O’Reilly compared gay marriage to goat marriage. But now he’s okay with gay marriage.

Actually, O’Reilly’s journey on gay rights has been a bit of a see-saw. O’Reilly was fine with gay marriage all the way back in the early 2000s. He was fine with a lot of gay rights – gave the standard “I don’t care, knock your socks off” explanation when asked about it. Then the religious right went nuts, and he got more conservative again. Now he’s back to his old self, which I welcome.

Stephen Colbert is less gracious about it :)

Great — now I’ve got THAT image in my head…

I just can’t go to the place of imagining milking Billy goat O’Reilly.

You know, pairing O’Reilly with a goat is an insult to goats. I grew up in the country, we had a herd of goats for milk, because one of my brothers, and an aunt who lived with us, were allergic to cows milk. Also, if you keep your goats and the yard clean, it is safe to drink the milk without pasteurizing it, which we did. Raw goats milk is strong, but good. There is truly nothing cuter in the world that baby goats frolicking around the barnyard. I helped milk those suckers every day. Billy goats are mean, and deserve to be kept in isolation much of the time. Also, one way to get your Daddy mad at you is to feed a cigarette to a milk goat. The goat loves it, but it does not do much for the flavor of the milk for a day or two.

Male goats exhibit an interesting natural behavior: they turn their head to look toward the rear, bare their teeth and piss in their own face. That pretty well sums up Bill O’Reilly in a nutshell.
