NOM’s only candidate for DC City Council lost by 3 to 1 margin

In the District of Columbia, NOM lost big yesterday.

The homophobic organization’s candidate for DC City Council in Ward 5, Delano Hunter, got thumped. Incumbent Harry Thomas Jr. defeated Hunter by a 3 to 1 margin. Here is the latest breakdown courtesy of DCist:

Ward 5 Council
Harry Thomas – 62.05%
Delano Hunter – 20.07%
Kenyan McDuffie – 13.77%

As we’ve reported, NOM spent big on this race. And, Hunter secured the endorsement of the Washington Post in an editorial that told us to ignore his homophobia.

Oh, this was going to be the race that showed everyone how DC voters rejected the same-sex marriage law. In fact, this was the only race where NOM was spending money. But, NOM lost. And, homophobia lost.

Now, NOM should just get the hell out of DC and stay out. Just leave our marriage law alone.
