Young gay teen, tortured by Russian vigilantes, may be dead (video)

I wrote the other day about how vigilante groups in Russia were luring gay teens via Russian social media sites, then kidnapping and torturing them. One such teen, profiled in our piece, may now be dead, according to Russian human rights activists. He was a young Uzbek waiter, and I’ve found additional photos, and a video, online of his abduction.

It should be noted that when you look at the translation from the original source, he may be presuming that the boy is dead, rather than reporting it.  Nonetheless, the new photos, and videos, are chilling.

Here the young Uzbek is seen being allegedly abducted by his captors. The group apparently calls itself “Occupy Pedophilia,” a pun on the Occupy Wall Street movement:

This is a another still shot from video of his alleged abduction that the abductors posted online, as is their habit.  The video is below:

Here is the video of his alleged abduction:

More from the group Spectrum Human Rights:

According to the human right activist, Dr. Valentin Degtyarev, MD, who closely monitors infamous Neo Nazi group “Occupy Pedofilyaj”, the Uzbek victim shown on this photo tragically died as a result of numerous tortures.

No arrests have been made and no charges were pressed.

Putin’s law enforcement seems to fully condone these actions. Moreover, Dr. Degtyarev’s numerous written complains to the authorities only resulted in his own persecution and threats directed at him and his 72 years old mother. In the official correspondence from the local District Attorney office and Governor’s office it was explained that Russian authorities do not see any wrongdoings in the video clips or photographs posted by Neo Nazi group “Occupy Pedofilyaj.”

Actually, the authorities referred to this group as one of the “civil movements fighting the sins of the society.”

Dr. Degtyarev diligently collects every piece of evidence and correspondence and records all phone conversation with direct threats to him and his mother. Yet, no actions from authorities have resulted so far. Dr. Degtyarev is routinely approached and offended on the street, receives numerous threats via mail, phone, SMS and email. He is not alone in his fight though.

Here’s the now-infamous photo of the boy being held captive and tortured:

Russian vigilantes show off a young gay boy they claim to have abducted and then doused with urine after entrapping him via a gay social media site.

Here the same teen is allegedly being doused with urine:

And here is the teen with the men who allegedly held him captive.  It’s not exactly rocket science identifying who they are:

gay-uzbek-teen-kidnappedThis is the reason people are finally standing up to Russian hate, boycotting Russian goods, and demanding that the International Olympic Committee do something about the clearly unsafe atmosphere in Russia for the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Now you have what you always wished. Good luck !

  7. Shawn Kennedy says:

It seems to me that someone in another civilized country could look at our politicians rhetoric and come to the same conclusions about us. That they could take isolated incidents, play them up and sell us as monsters. 83% of Russia is christain, thus just like our local tea baggers… I mean tea party, their government is pandering to the lowest common denominator to sell their actions.

I’m not condoning the acts of this pack of violent closet cases. And yes, when you strip another man to his underwear and put a dildo in his hand I have to think your actions are telling me the gayness you hate may be your own. I’m just saying the timing is quite convenient. After Russia gave asylum to Snowden, playing up stories like these just seems like a good way to return a political back eye.

  8. Zero says:

And yes, all evidence I’ve seen seems to indicate that Russians are a pretty savage people.

  9. Zero says:

First off, the term “pedophile” means someone who wants to have sex with prepubescent children, not 14 year olds. Get your facts straight. Second, even if what he did is wrong, only a psychopath tortures people. These guys are monsters, they enjoy hurting people and don’t care who. If they didn’t have a pedophile to torture they’d do it to someone else.

I wonder, if they did this to a woman who was flirting with a 14 year old boy, Would you be so supportive of their actions? I think not. That shows that your belief is backed by a primitive sexist mentality.

  10. Well, I think he meant there’s no censorships of the journalists Putin doesn’t put to death.

  11. This is clearly someone who’s been bought off by – or works for – the Kremlin, or a private company that wants us to back down.

  12. Rory O'Flaherty says:

When a man is accused by a group of men who think torture is acceptable, then that accusation holds very little weight. Nobody should respect anyone who doesn’t give an accused man a fair trial and his human right to defend himself, in a court of law, without duress and without torture. If the evidence is there, the truth will come out. It is not for the likes of scum to hold judgement on others. Regardless of how these thugs and the Russian media tries to spin this, there is no proof and no justice in Russia.

  13. J says:

Why are you defending a pedophile?

As for running the country to ruin, Russia is growing at 4.3% annually, whereas the US is a mere 1.7% (which is less than inflation and one must also take the US’ roughly 1% population growth into account which means it has a NEGATIVE growth rate PER CAPITA every year). So you get negative growth WITHOUT even disputing the “official” government inflation figures, see ShadowStats, if you just use the old method of measuring inflation, before Reagan changed it to make the economy look better, US inflation is over 9% annually, which seems about right (I came back to the US after a few years and was shocked how much prices had risen, but many Americans didn’t seem to understand since it was all gradually done to them).

And the EU has a negative growth rate WITHOUT even factoring in population growth or inflation.

  14. J says:

So quick to condemn a European country that does this, but I never heard of a “boycott the Mideast” movement from the Left, over it’s EXECUTION of gays. Russia is only banning “gay propaganda”, i.e. pro-gay statements in the press/public settings.

Would you like to say Ugandans are a lower life form? They have been trying to pass a bill to EXECUTE gays for years (only slowing down because of US pressure).

Or would you say South Africans are a lower life form? Jacob Zuma and his black South African party lead the charge to remove protections for “sexual orientation” from a UN resolution on executions, basically to allow themselves to execute gays.

And yet you focus on a country that restricts pro-gay speeches, while ignoring the ones that have been executing gays for decades….

  15. imnotgay2008 says:

Russians are a lower life form.

  16. Rory O'Flaherty says:

Clean book my arse. The money in Russia might as well be covered in babies blood it’s so tainted. And you’re seriously trying to tell me that the authorities wouldn’t suddenly find a reason to shut such a website down, be it through that stupid anti-gay law, or the fact they ”failed to complete certain paperwork declaring income from blah blah blah”. Any excuse to forward their agenda. It’s harder and harder to communicate with LGBT people in crisis when a government won’t even let them use any form of communication to admit they’re gay!

  17. Countzero says:

Bullshit. Russian laws don’t deny any form of external funding as long as it’s crystal clear, traceable, by the book. The “espionage” fuss, was about lots of companies from US, that work in support and promotion of ideals/ideologies, not wishing to show sources of income and their money-flow. The hypocrisy is such, that many countries have such laws, USA included, but only Russian government gets criticized for demanding a clean book.

  18. Rory O'Flaherty says:

Exactly, and they can’t get funding from America or anywhere else to run the site because then they’ll all be arrested for espionage. What a stupid situation to be in.

  19. Rory O'Flaherty says:

How are lgbtnation saying it’s bullshit? The article says the blogs they posted saying he’s dead are currently unfounded (according to Russian reports), not that LGBT says it’s not true.

  20. Rory O'Flaherty says:

Anything this man states is clearly null and void since he under duress, how can anyone expect him to be calm and rational with a guy with a baseball bat staring at him and threatening him with it?

Regardless of any supposed crime, justice is not for a group of armed thugs to decide, vigilantes have no place in any country that attempts have a civilised society.

In my opinion this is just another bit of propaganda to make Russians think homosexuality links with pedophilia. It won’t be long before every gay person has to wear a badge on their clothing with the letter ‘G’ on it. Then they will be restricted from entering certain places, restricted from working certain jobs. Then they will only be allowed to live in one area.

Maybe gays should leave Russia, go to nicer countries, and let all the bigots run the country to ruin and slowly destroy each other.

  21. DastiusKrazitauc says:

Thank you, Rory! I couldn’t find his name in any article I read.

  22. Andrés Galeano says:

this guy wrote to a 14 year old on social network that he wants to have sexual relationship with him (in details). Came to visit the child where he was ambushed by the activists who catch pedophiles. he denies that he wanted to have sex and says he just wanted to meet and be friends. the group asking him what would people do to him back home (in Uzbekistan) if he did the same.

they try ti humiliate him and put it online so everyone would know who he is ( a pedophie)

If you don’t believe me then go show this to an Russian-American and ask him for the translation.

  23. Kris Anticknap says:

Let’s just say that the young man (does he have to be a minor for this to be unacceptable?) was not tortured. Perhaps you could switch places with that guy, and then give us a full report about the good time you had.

  24. Rory O'Flaherty says:

Imya Sador is his name, I have no idea why this isn’t widely known yet…

  25. Anonymous says:

Because they are not stupid enough to film the violence. But police confiscated dozens of weapons from their home, and there are photos of those.

Death threats or arrests against people who tell the truth, because they happen to be pro-gay or anti-government

  33. Someone says:

Censorship makes it hard to communicate with Russians? What exactly are you talking about? I bet you can’t name a single example. National TV channels in Russia are, for the most part, under the control of the government or pro-government businessmen but you can find any kind of information you want in print publications and on the internet. So “censorship” has absolutely nothing to do with this. You just didn’t bother to do the least bit of homework before setting off on this campaign and there’s no excuse for it. You and anyone else could easily go on Russian LGBT sites, VK groups, etc., and talk to people there. The fact that apparently none of you even bothered to do this is disturbing.

  34. cole3244 says:

thats why i threw in the blood & paint comment, something isn’t quite right, this might be a hoax from the get go even though brutality is occurring in russia against the lgbt community.

  35. Anonymous says:

Are you serious? By downplaying everything, you seem to play into the censorship that makes it so hard to communicate with Russians. It’s more likely that more is going on we don’t even know about. There are actual videos of these victim’s graves, and the skinheads (who post regularly) know some have committed suicide. At least Americablog acknowledges this is not a reliable source. But it’s just not easy to share the truth in Russia. I’ve heard from Russians that journalists are often shot or detained for exposing corruption.

  36. Randy says:

lgbtqnation seems to be calling bullshit on this whole story:

  37. Randy says:

    1) the pictures look staged. 2) They don’t show any actual violence, so what would police arrest them on?

  38. Tom in Lazybrook says:

Bias crimes like this are rare in the US. When they do happen, even in anti-Gay places like Sylacauga, Alabama, Laramie, Wyoming, or Bay Minette, Alabama, they are prosecuted, its major news, and the perpetrators get convicted and go to real jails for real jail sentences. When this happens in Russia, its not reported in the local press, the perpetrators remain at large, and sites such as VKontake keep profiting from the promotion of violence.

  39. Tom in Lazybrook says:

Uh, some Dutch filmmakers went to Russia last month to do exactly that. Interview LGBT persons in Russia to determine for themselves. This is what happened
Since the child in this case may be under 18, anyone trying to get information on that within Russia might be arrested for the same reason the Dutch TV crew was.
Its an absolute pogrom. Read down the comments to hear what they reportedly did next to the teen. And those guys are still at large.

“without ever actually getting in contact with any Russian LGBTs?”

Therein lies the problem. They aren’t allowed to ‘come out’ publicly. Also, this is a site, not NBC. Do you realize the work it takes to run a website. Without the financial backing major networks have, it’s hardly doable to run to Russia to interview the LGBT community, who are actually hiding.

  45. Chauche says:

like this never happens in united states.

  46. Someone says:

    1. There is no proof that he is dead. The source you cite –

does not provide any proof whatsoever. Someone on that page asked this guy (Degtyarev) to substantiate this claim and he basically told them to piss off. You should also know that this Degtyarev is basically a tinfoil hat wearing nutjob prone to extreme hyperbole, which is evident all over his livejournal page.

    2. These “Okkupaj” guys are in trouble already. The police have searched their homes, charges have been filed against them.

Doesn’t really fit into the whole “fascist Russia killing all the gays” narrative, does it. These claims that the Russian police are in cahoots with these criminals are absurd. If they have been slow to react, it’s because there have been no bodies thus far and because they are generally slow to react to anything until a big scandal develops. There is no mass conspiracy.

    3. How is that you decided to do this whole boycott campaign, supposedly to help Russian LGBTs, without ever actually getting in contact with any Russian LGBTs? I mean, how is that even possible? You have no idea what’s going on in the country. Russia is not on Mars, believe it or not. You could, for example, go on the numerous Russian LGBT sites and forums, and talk to people there. Most of them would tell you that a boycott of all Russian companies would first and foremost hurt LGBTs and their allies in Russia. It could set LGBT rights back years.

If the Russian authorities are complicit in these extremists activities, its time to force Obama, England, and other NATO powers to put political pressure on the Russian government. Even if we can’t stop them from doing these things in Russia, we can shame the country itself and make Brand Russia look like some 3rd world country where people don’t want to spend tourists dollars or invest money into. If we can’t stop them… let’s at least make them pay dearly for every ounce of gay blood that they spill.

  50. chris10858 says:

If Russian authorities are condoning this violence by extremist groups, it is only a matter of time before the groups begin escalating the violence.

Even before WWII, Hitler had his Nazi “soldiers” who he relied on to spread fear upon all those who opposed him. Just like these Russian groups, the Nazis first worked outside of German law to torture and kill people.

I believe John mentioned in another article that there is still a strong anti-semitic sentiment amongst many of these extremists. If that’s so, then it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t soon start targeting Jewish people as well.

  51. Mike_in_the_Tundra says:

Our Department of State needs to work with other freedom loving countries to get those people out of Russia. They will need to be offered asylum. They will need much encouragement, but there’s still a long way to go. LGBT people of the world will need to raise money for their passage, offer them food and shelter, and see to it they have jobs. I have no idea how such an undertaking is possible, but hopefully there is a person out there who does. Then there are countries like Nigeria. I think my head is in danger of exploding.

They are scapegoating gays because of the recession. A rep actually went on TV saying that “gay propaganda” has stopped population growth. (Most people there believe being gay is a choice or disease.) Putin is trying hard to appeal to a social base that is obviously frustrated with his economic failures. I have also heard lawmakers are using gay issues to cover up widespread embezzling of funds.

Such a typical pattern: the gangs of right-wing thugs get to crack skulls with the tacit complicity of the government, who gets to pretend that it is innocent of any criminal acts.

A lot of these victims are committing suicide, and the skinheads are proud of it. There is a video showing them taking activists to those graves so we know it has happened. Their goal is to torture them to depression because they can’t kill them. The skinheads apparently posted on their website (I can’t read Russian but someone translated) “I’d kill them but the government doesn’t allow it.” Of course in a country where they can’t differentiate between sadistic convicts and “crime fighters,” I’m not even surprised it’s allowed to happen. Corruption and barbarism is just something these people grow up with and think is normal, apparently.
