Religious right leader wants to make being gay a crime because he “likes black males”

Religious right leader Bryan Fischer, with the (sadly) influential religous right group, the American Family Association, who is more than a bit nutty, yet still wooed by GOP leaders and presidential candidates, said recently that the thinks it should be illegal to be gay.

Why?  Because Fischer “loves black males.” (What was your first warning sign? A conservative Republican expressed his undying love for African-Americans before saying something really dumb.)

You see, as Fischer explains it, HIV/AIDS is a serious problem in the black community in the US (which it is), and he cares so much about African-Americans, that he simply must bash gays in order to help his besties, the blacks.

This is black genocide. If you care about black people, and we do, I’m telling you ladies and gentlemen, it’s the people who do not care about the health of black males that are all for the normalization of homosexuality.

Let me put it bluntly, if you are for the legalization of homosexuality, you are for the acceptability of homosexuality, you are for the normalization of homosexuality, you do not care about black males. You have no compassion in your black heart for black males, because they’re being decimated by HIV/AIDS… So why am I opposed to the normalization of homosexual behavior? Because I love black males. I want black males to live long, prosperous, healthy, disease-free lives.

What Fischer doesn’t bother telling you is that one of the major reasons for the high incidence of HIV in the black community is homophobia.

[Director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease, Anthony] Fauci described how this problem has taken shape in Washington, D.C., where about half of the population is black. In predominantly white areas, the prevalence of HIV/AIDS is very low, he said, but in predominantly black areas, “the rate is seven or eight percent. The disparity is not only of African Americans who are disenfranchised from health care, but also the difficulty of social acceptance in the African American community of a gay man of color.

You stigmatize being gay, you stigmatize having HIV, and what happens?  People don’t get educated about safer sex, they don’t get tested, they don’t get treatment, they’re more secretive about their partners, they’re more likely to get HIV, and more likely to spread HIV.

So is Bryan Fischer truly loved black males, he’d quit his job.

    Fasntastic post!

I’m not sure “under” is where Mr. Fischer prefers his black men…

Lets make it illegal to be an idiot and this one will have to go away

This is the same ‘logic’ that says ‘if we ban birth control and don’t tell teenagers about sex, then no teen will ever get pregnant ever again and all teens will save themselves for marriage!’

You forgot Bieber deniers and Beounce gagers.

  6. goulo says:

So does he love black gay males, or does he want black gay males to be outlawed?

Perhaps his head would explode from the paradox, like a confused computer in an old science fiction show.

Especially if they turn it off when requested to turn it down…that is just defiance!

People still legitimately debate the origins of the plague.

Yep, perhaps I’m too cynical, but I definitely see this as an intentional epidemic. They don’t have the medical care needed to survive, and the land will be ripe for takeover if people die. Sad but hardly unfathomable that Christianity is one big scam in sheep’s clothing.

I’m not sure that this argument will work with his base. A look at the COWHIS* (Crazy Old White (men) Hate Intensity Score) data will show why. COWHIS ranks the hate generated by different groups in the members of the GOP and similar factions (rednecks, neo-nazis, etc.). Though there are some variances depending on the region of the US studied, COWHIS shows that Gays and Blacks are near the top of the list. Followed by: immigrants, women, guys who wear saggy gangsta pants, born children, non-evangelical christians, Obama, muslims, gun control advocates, Bieber, atheists, Benghazi-deniers, liberals, Girl Scouts, lesbians, socialists, weed users, pro-choicers, buddhists and other groups. Though the rankings of these groups are somewhat fluid (e.g. immigrants sometimes reach the top of the list in Arizona, briefly), they cause the COWs to generate gallons of venom. Now, Fischer is trying to get the COWs to want to save Blacks. That’s not going to happen. Hatred is in their very DNA. It’s that same DNA that makes them want to teethe on pistol barrels in their cribs, bully children younger and smaller than themselves, abuse women, hate the poor and cherry-pick the bible. COWs will still loathe Blacks (and Gays, immigrants, etc.). Fischer needs to find a different argument.

In Africa the christers are encouraging the spread of HIV with abstinence and lies about preventive practices and devices.

“Shock at archbishop condom claim Maputo Archbishop Francisco Chimoio claimed some anti-retroviral drugs were also infected “in order to finish quickly the African people”. … Aids activists have been angered by the remarks, one calling them “nonsense”. We’ve been using condoms for years now, and we still find them safe,” prominent Mozambican Aids activist Marcella Mahanjane told the BBC. … The UN says anti-retrovirals (ARVs) have proved very effective for treating people with Aids. The drugs are not a cure, but attack the virus on several fronts at once. The BBC’s Jose Tembe in the capital, Maputo, says it is estimated that 16.2% of Mozambique’s 19m inhabitants are HIV positive.

Black MEN. He’s obviously not interested in all of the women in Africa who got HIV from heterosexual sex, either. Must be something about Black MEN, maybe especially those who live near by, are well endowed and are fond of aging white men.

Would love to see him respond to a black male in the wrong clothes. For example, on the way out from the gym or at a party. I wonder if he’d think the guy was a “thug” or perhaps one of the staff.

You made your bed now lie in it. Hope you all have a great time justifying wingnut comments made over the last few years.

  20. The_Fixer says:

This is just a horseshit attempt to justify bigotry. This guy is a simpleton and if he thinks anybody with a functioning brain is gonna believe this crap, I have news for him. The only ones who may believe him are the ones who have no problem with homophobia already.

I have a two-word and one-digit response for this guy. I am sure that any reader can guess what that response is.

OK, so black people need to be saved from HIV/AIDS but white people can just die?

  23. BeccaM says:

Aye, I read that account up there and my very first reaction was, “Oh, it’s projection again.”

  24. Thom Allen says:

You get a bunch of lesbians out there with those HIV rings that Pat Robertson talks about. Then you have them cut those Black guys and give them AIDS and watch Bryan get bent out of shape then.

  25. Thom Allen says:

Interesting take by him. Oddly, weapons and accidents also cause a lot of deaths and disabilities in Black males. Yet he’s not arguing for more strict gun laws or mandatory courses in safety. He’s also not looking to stop HIV spread by sharing used needles. And he doesn’t seen to be advocating to do anything for the Black males already infected: health care, medications, etc. Guess he doesn’t love those guys enough.

  26. MJL says:

isn’t there evidence somewhere within the giant internet pool proving how much of a racist he is? because I already know that everything he says is bullshit but he’s really just playing both sides against each other right here

  27. BeccaM says:

And as always, lesbians are invisible and apparently do not exist at all…

  28. jm2 says:

let’s see… “on the down low” did not enter the lexicon until, hmmm… black males had to hide their sexuality for fear of more intense rejection than even any white male. then the most recent men to come out have been Jason Collins, Michael Sam…. oh, wait! they are African-American! I wonder why that is?

Bryan, do you know the reason? i’m NOT asking your opinion. i want to know the reason. no reason? maybe it’s because you are an idiot – “too stupid to know you are ignorant.” btw, that definition of “idiot” was given by a 10-year old African-American gentleman i taught one year. David is a genius & definitely not ignorant.

I must also find it absurd that all blacks are “nonreligious” as conservatives keep telling us. Many black communities are deeply religious and homphobic. I mean, not that they would know what black people or liberals are really like from their fear-insulated bubble.

  31. AnitaMann says:

And by spreading homophobia, which kills by making sex more furtive and less safe.

  39. nicho says:

One of the reasons AIDS became so rampant in the black community is because the black ministers and black churches did everything they could to block AIDS education and AIDS outreach in the black communities. They were adamant that there were no gays in the black community and that AIDS was a white problem. As usual, Christian dogma killed and is still killing people.

  40. Jim Olson says:

So, Bryan Fischer likes black men…
